Pastel Impressionism Class
WITH ARTIST GINA TORELLO
This Course will explore the forgiving and simple medium of soft pastels. References will be provided varying in subject matter and style. Working together as a class in a step by step manner you discover how a professional artist begins, creates and finishes a work of art. This method of teaching gives you confidence and allows you freedom to develop your own style. This class is designed for a painting to be finished in two consecutive lessons.
Through this impressionistic course, you will learn the importance of colors and tones, while improving your style and approach to mark making in this forgiving medium. We will try the use of an alcohol underpainting in one of our paintings. Master the art of layering our pastels to achieve greater depth and volume along with ongoing lessons in color theory.
This course will teach you how to break down the reference into values and tones to create a free, less rigid painting style by seeing and utilizing the positive and negative forms and shapes to enhance your drawing skills. I will teach you how to draw the subject matter correctly and in proportion. We will then use diverse techniques week to week to create each pastel. This will be a fun, fulfilling pastel class creating beautiful one-of-a-kind works of art, as unique as the individual who creates them.
All levels are always welcome.
