Cheryl Griesbach
Cheryl Griesbach has been on the faculty of The School of Visual Arts
since 1985. She received her BA at SVA in 1973 and began her career
as an illustrator. Cheryl has painted covers for over 1200 book jackets for
all the major publishing houses in n.y.c. She has also done work for major
advertising agencies, designed plates for Williams Sonoma, created the
first bicentennial poster for the Macy’s fireworks in New York City harbor,
appeared on UBS channel 9 in correlation with a cover for the Village
Voice in support for the controversial Sensation Show at the Brooklyn
Museum.
In 2000 Cheryl began painting for galleries and won major
competitions and awards. She continually sells her work, which she
describes as a fusion of 17th Century still life, animal and landscape
painting with touches of magic surrealism. Cheryl has been invited to
show in the inaugural exhibition “Faculty and Friends” in the new art
building on the campus of Monmouth University, this coming October
