We all loved the PBS show "The Joy of Painting" with artist Bob Ross and now you too can create some happy little trees!
Join us for a fun and relaxing painting experience that is perfect for the complete beginner and the experienced painter.
Mark Saenger will walk you through step by step using the Bob Ross method of creating a wet on wet oil painting. By the end of the day, you will leave with your masterpiece ready to frame.
Mark is a certified Bob Ross teacher, having spent time learning personally from and having a friendship with him back in the early 90's. Learn the special techniques as seenon TV and remember there are no mistakes - just happy accidents!

Gina Torello is an accomplished, professional artist with more than 30 years of teaching experience in higher fine arts education. She earned her M.F.A. with a concentration in painting from the Dominican University in Florence, Italy, where she trained with renowned international instructors. Gina specializes in oil painting and pastels, focusing on a blend of impressionism and realism. Her subject matter is primarily nature-based with a heavy concentration in landscapes and seascapes. Gina’s work has been prominently featured in galleries, exhibitions, and art shows in the U.S. and abroad. Gina’s career is centered on the intersection of fine art and education. During her professorships at Monmouth University, Brookdale Community College, and Fortman Studios in Florence, Gina built a solid track record in teaching fine art studio courses and developed a deep commitment to all her students to find their passions, voices, and creative styles. Gina continually seeks to provide students with a broad range of educational opportunities by designing her own contemporary fine art courses, orchestrating study abroad experiences, and incorporating structured classical studio courses of all ages and skill levels. In depth information will be discussed on paints, painting mediums, brushes and surfaces. Learn to understand your paints and brushes and what they can do for you. Discover your own hand and style preference with tools you need to progress on your own level.
Similar techniques apply to both oils and acrylics. Acrylics now compete with oil paints in terms of the range of colors and transparent glazing colors. The class will teach a specific methods and easy to master techniques in either oils or acrylics or both.
I am on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts for over 35 years and have many awards for commercial and personal paintings. I am also teaching foundation painting at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Free prints for a 16 x 20 inch art panel will be provided to the class. These images are based on portraits, still life, botanical and landscapes as well as a variety of other subject. Students are also free to provide their own photographs for reference purposes.

Classical Drawing Techniques with Artist Cheryl Griesbach

Classical drawing materials and techniques will be covered to Improving your drawing skills and practicing the rendering principle. Students will be working in only graphite and rendering in black and white as well in terra cotta and white pencil to enhance line work and tonal depth on colored papers to produce a finished drawing. Every wekk we will explore a new technique and assignment. Students will work from direct observation from a still life and photographic reference. Class can also include images of their own to explore.

A good comic book has the potential to change the world. Ever wonder how a creator could put together one or many pieces of art that form a story that is not only clear to follow and entertaining, but also has the capacity to change a reader’s life?
Learn how in the Comic Technique course, where we go over the process of visual storytelling. Students will learn such things as anatomy, perspective, determining light sources, inking, color theory, and last but not least, how to put all these skills together into a narrative that can give the creator a new way to express themselves as an artist.
Students will learn the fundamentals of anatomy, perspective, light sourcing, and color theory while also learning how to write a story using sequential narrative in order to make a clearly read and entertaining comic.
For all ages 10 & up.
Sean’s career had landed him working with cultural luminaries such as Harvey Pekar, Blondie, and Weird Al Yankovic. Some of the work from those previously mentioned has gone on to in some cases be a NY Times instant best seller (Face It by Debbie Harry) and others recieving an Eisner nomination (The Illustrated Al by Alfred Yankovic). His art has appeared in such press outlets as the New York Times, Juxtapoz Magazine, and MTV.com
